Biography / CVAfter education Gareth travelled the world living and working in Pietrasanta Italy, Australia and North America,working alongside artists and craftsmen from different cultures developing the skills necessary to bring ideas from a wild imagination into a tangible form. Travelling proved to be a great opportunity to study the native flora and fauna which would later appear in many pieces of work in particular the functional sculpture.Now living and creating sculpture from his farm in the Peak District National Park,Gareth is inspired by nature on a daily basis. |

Artist StatementCapturing both movement and emotion are the main considerations in work carved out of the solid in either stone or wood.Gareth believes attention to detail is paramount,going the extra mile,breaking the rules and putting everything into a piece,along with having an emotional involvment is the only way to achieve realism and to give the work a personal feel. Human beings are emotional creatures so why should sculpture be any different. |
